It was good to have Ray & Keith back with us this last month capturing a nice mixed bag or various fish species..
its nice to welcome David back to the lake again this year ….
A nice arapaima for Keith….
Bob was back at the lake today and had a nice mixed bag of 11 fish including a specimen sized Mrigal Carp, Siamese Carp, Rohu Carp, Asian Redtail, a rare Spotted Sorubim C
Thanks to professional French angler Abdesselam Toumi for choosing our venue and the video of him taming a good sized arapaima on a new prototype ‘ big ‘ fish ‘ specialist pole.. designed specifically for larger fish by his sponsors MILO High Performance Fishing Tackle France: http://www.milo.it/index.html…..
The pole features very thick specialist elastic which runs the length of the pole.. enabling the fish to run far without causing undue stress but also reduces the time needed to land it safely… (whilst we do not encourage any equipment that may be detrimental to our fish, after carefully examining the tackle to be used we were confident there would be no issues using and testing the prototype pole)
Here are some of the new additions recently added to the lake..
African Arowana
Giant Siamese Carp 47 kg – 103 lb
Chinese Black Carp
Chinese Mirror Carp
Ripsaw Catfish
Atlantic Tarpon
3 days of fast runs for Mark producing some good carp and a nice mixture of 13 different fish species ..

It was very nice to meet Keith Downton who specially flew up from Phuket to spend 2 days fishing with us, he had recently dislocated his shoulder but his doctor assured him it would be ok just to do a bit of fishing…. after capturing numerous arapaima he then hooked into one of our giant Mekong catfish which gave him a gruelling 2 hour and 45 mins fight…. we are hoping a few beers on the town to celebrate his catches will put the shoulder right again…

Freshwater Tarpon Fishing in Thailand, Nicolas was very happy after hooking into one of our aerobatic Atlantic Tarpon and successfully lading it! many are hooked into but very few anglers manage to actually land one. It was quite a busy 3-day fishing with him capturing 10 different fish species including 7 arapaima…

The Atlantic tarpon is a ray-finned fish that inhabits coastal waters, estuaries, lagoons, and rivers. Also known as the silver king. Found in the Atlantic Ocean, typically in tropical and subtropical regions, though reported as far north as Nova Scotia and the Atlantic coast of southern France, and as far south as Argentina. As with all Elopiformes it spawns at sea. Its diet includes small fish and crustaceans. Weights recorded at up toan astonishing 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) in length and weighing up to 161 kg (355 lb).
A tarpon is capable of filling its swim bladder with air, a bit like a primitive lung. This gives it a predatory advantage when oxygen levels in the water are low. In appearance, tarpon are greenish or bluish on top and silver on the sides. With the largemouth turned upwards and the lower jaw contains an elongated, bony plate. The last ray of the dorsal fin is much longer than the others, reaching nearly to the tail. The tarpon is the official state saltwater fish of Alabama.[6] It is mostly inedible but valued as a game fish.
The Tarpon has a reputation for great aerobatics skills and has been the subject of media attention, including the TV mini-series Chasing Silver released in 2004. Now you can have the chance to catch your dream fish in Thailand!
