Thai Freshwater Fish Species – Catla Catla (Indian) Carp
The Catla Catla (Indian Carp or Graho India) certainly has to be one of my favourite carp species, its not often they exceed 25kg (55lb) which I would guess the one I am holding in the picture below is very close to that weight, we have a very good stock of Catla’s and most exceed 15 – 20kg +

Catla (Catla catla), also known as the major (Indian) carp, is an economically important South Asian freshwater fish in the carp family Cyprinidae. It is commonly found in rivers and lakes in northern India, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. In Assam, it is known as bahu, bhokua, or baudhekera.
Catla is a fish with large and broad head, a large protruding lower jaw, and upturned mouth. It has large, greyish scales on its dorsal side and whitish on its belly.
Catla is a surface and midwater feeder. Adults feed on zooplankton, but young ones on both zooplankton and phytoplankton. Catla attains sexual maturity at an average age of two years and an average weight of 2 kg.
Fishing Update – New Lake Project
Our exciting new project for 2017… marking out the boundaries before the excavators arrive to dig out the new big lake…. (there will be no interruptions to the present lake and excavation will be done at night) the new lake will be able to hold fish in excess of 250lb

With the weather just turning a bit cooler the Amazon red tail catfish certainly came on the feed keeping our first time visitors Steve & family pretty busy for most of the day! in all over 6 different fish species were caught and with a couple of lost biggies 🙁 .. thank you for your visit and we look forward to seeing you again soon..
Fishing In Udon Thani – Lawrence from Kent
Keen fisherman Lawrence from Kent visited us for his first time today with wife Duane and his lovely mum. Not many biggies but Lawrence was certainly kept very busy and at least 15 fish with 7 different species were landed throughout the day! To finish the day off Mum and Duane enjoyed a ride through the Thai village on our horse and cart…. great company and hope to see you again on your next visit !

Predator Fishing In Thailand – Udon Thani Fishing Park Update
A spot of early morning fishing before work reaped some nice rewards for our young Mr Gop resulting in netting 2 very nice Alligator Gar followed buy one of our newer residents the Ripsaw Catfish,,,finishing off with screaming runs and a fearsome fight with one of our freshwater ‘ sharks ‘ The Chao Phraya Catfish’ ..
Fishing Update Udon Thani Fishing Park – Siamese Carp Fishing in Thailand
Had no visitors today so with having the lake to myself I thought heres a good opportunity to have a bash and try out some new pop ups. The afternoon started off nicely with the first strike a Julien’s Golden Prize Carp and then a couple of nice doubles, but the highlight of the day had to be hooking into one of our recently added larger residents’ Big Siamese Carp.. with many now at 30 – 40kg+ (66lb – 88lb +) .. happy days! tight lines everyone!
