The Fila Brasileiro or Brazilian Mastiff is a large working breed of dog developed in Brazil. Known for its superb tracking ability, aggressiveness, and an unforgiving, impetuous temperament. Rather than attacking prey, the Fila traps it and waits for the hunter to arrive. Owing to these qualities, the Fila Brasileiro main us as a guard dog, as a cattle dog for livestock and for hunting dogs for tracking and controlling the large game.  18th century Brazil when slavery was then legal the Fila Brasileiro was used to return fugitive slaves unharmed to their masters.

The Fila Brasileiro known to be naturally protective. Bred to be extremely aggressive. Also known for extreme wariness of strangers and agility when protecting or defending the master. The dedication and obedience of the Fila Brasileiro has found its way into the Brazilian saying “as faithful as a Fila”.
