Fishing In Udon Thani – Update..
A late afternoon start still produced some good results for Jame’s on his second time fishing our lake and Mathew’s first try at fishing in general…. A bit of a competition ensued with James taking the lead with two ripsaws, juliens golden prize carp, common carp and an amazon redtail… after a bit of tuition Mathew was not far behind but soon caught up with one of our chunky chao phraya fresh water sharks, a tambaqui,, siamese carp and three redtails… it was a very pleasant afternoon, and with lovely weather of course… thank you lads we look forward to seeing you again next time …
Fishing In Udon Thani – Paul from the UK
A slightly slow start turned into an exciting day for keen carp enthusiast Paul from the UK, I was beginning to wonder if the French lads had tired all the fish out until the battle commenced with a lovely ripsaw catfish then followed by a very energetic chao phraya freshwater shark.. as the day warmed up so did the fishing producing a very nice variety of 7 different fish species … with it being Paul’s first experience fishing Thailand I feel sure it will be a day to remember..
Abdesselam Toumi and Jean Michel Chassal…Fishing in Udon Thani
The lads from France were back in force today and what a cracking session it was too. Between them netting another nice selection of 10 different species consisting of some Julien’s Golden Prize Carp, Chao Phraya Catfish, Tambaqui, , Ghost Carp, Common Carp, Asian Catfish, Amazon Retail, Siamese Carp, Catla Catla Carp and a couple of Bla NIn.. the afternoon saw some lovely fish come out on the specialist poles, yes poles! these were high tech specially made carbon fibre poles that can handle fish up to 30 – 40 kg,,, well they certainly had a good test out today! Thank you once again to professional anglers Abdesselam Toumi and Jean Michel Chassal… sponsored by MILO
Its not always about the size! 🙂

Fishing in Udon Thani – Abdesselam Toumi v Chao Phraya Catfish at Leks Fishing Park – Thailand
Professional french angler Abdesselam Toumi skilfully playing and landing one of our Chao Phraya Catfish, a fierce-some predator also known as Thailand’s fresh water shark or dog eating catfish… Mr.Toumi and Jean Michel Chassalover landed approx fifty fish with eleven different species just over a two day period………
Mr Toumi, Jean Michel and Philip, sponsored by MILO…
Round two and day two which started off with bitter cold winds and plummeting temperatures, one would ask oneself are we really in Thailand or back in bl**dy blighty! Hence the lads got off to a bit of a slow start but it was not too long before the old faithful Amazon Redtail Catfish started to feed, in fact maybe the cold weather sent them into some sort of feeding frenzy as after 10 we stopped counting.. some of the other species oddly came in two’s, two Ripsaw catfish, 2 Tambique and then the Chao Phraya with a third lost at the net… some nice common carp making the french anglers feel at home…. aprox 40 – 50 assorted fish and 11 different specie’s over the two days is not too bad considering the arctic conditions… It was a fun weekend and I learnt a few new tricks too, a good thank you to professional anglers Mr Toumi, Jean Michel and Philip, sponsored by MILO…

Fishing update – Bob Bissett
After a bit of a break it was good to see our resident angler Bob was back in action, a Julien’s Golden Prize Carp was the target fish for today which was nicely landed mid afternoon. Another double take with a sneeky Amazon Redtail Catfish taking the carp bait on one rod and a beauty of a Tepa on the other..our guide Burr was too the rescue yet again.. with quite a few other species in the net, what a cracking day !
Fishing update with Garrick– Udon Thani Fishing Park
It was very nice to meet fellow Brit and expat Garrick today, it was his first visit to Northern Thailand and also his first time fishing over here. Having not fished for some time was a little concerned that some rust might have set in but after a little tuition he was good to go!…. the fishing started off a little slow but it was not too long before battle commenced with one of our powerful Amazon Redtails..nicely landed….then followed by a beast of an alligator gar but it was lost at the net as some idiot (me) had the wrong net! … finishing off midday we counted 7 fish in all, 3 Amazon Redtails, 2 nice carp and a couple of Bla Nin.. thank you again Garrick, safe travels back to Bangkok and we look forward to meeting you again on your next trip to Udon
